Please help. Anyone know of tips on handwriting?

Hello. My brother really needs help with his handwriting. He is in Year 7 and is falling behind in subjects because he is having difficulty writing. He was not supported in that area by his teachers in Junior School. He holds the pen awkwardly so that%26#039;s probably why he is having difficulty. Does anybody know how I can help him change the way he writes so that he can write at a normal pace and not have to worry about it. Also, any good websites that could give good advice.

Thanks so much for all your answers.|||My brother is dyspraxic, he holds everything awkwardly in his hands, is very clumsy, has bad hand-eye co-ordination and writes slowly. He was eight before he could properly form letters on paper.

My school didn%26#039;t support my brother at all, and they got very frustrated as he took a long time to complete work, and rarely got pieces of work in before the end of a lesson. They thought he was messing about, so they kicked him out, then we found out that he could be dyspraxic.

Speak to your GP. :) They can be very helpful in referring your brother to a specialist who can diagnose dyspraxia, if he has it, and they can teach him how to hold a pen correctly, and get him specialist pens that are more comfortable to hold; I know that because of the way my brother holds his pen, it often hurts his hand, so specialist pens/cutlery etc are really useful.

I hope you find out what%26#039;s up with your brother soon! :)

Good luck. :)|||He might be dislexic. Some people don%26#039;t find out untill they are adults Good luck:)|||big lined paper and lots and lots of practise, make him write the full size of the line and keep at it every day, he%26#039;ll get there in the end|||just teach him how to hold the pen right.
