Do I have Asperger syndrome?

Ok so I was reading up on Asperger syndrome and I noticed I answered %26quot;yes%26quot; to like all the symptoms. I even took a test and got 40...they said if you got over 32 to go see a docter.

Here are some of the symptoms...

Not pick up on social cues and may lack inborn social skills, such as being able to read others%26#039; body language, start or maintain a conversation, and take turns talking. %26lt;---I can not read body language to save my life and I also can%26#039;t keep a convo going at all.

Dislike any changes in routines. %26lt;---I hate hate hate changes in routines!!! As a child my mother told me I would cry if something change in my life like bedtime,us moving etc.

Appear to lack empathy. %26lt;---I don%26#039;t really know how to handle a crying friend or a crying baby...so I guess I lack empathy.

Be unable to recognize subtle differences in speech tone, pitch, and accent that alter the meaning of others鈥?speech. Thus, your child may not understand a joke or may take a sarcastic comment literally. Likewise, his or her speech may be flat and difficult to understand because it lacks tone, pitch, and accent. %26lt;---I don%26#039;t really get some jokes and when I do I%26#039;m the last person to get it and sarcastim fly right pass me =/

Have a formal style of speaking that is advanced for his or her age. For example, the child may use the word %26quot;beckon%26quot; instead of %26quot;call%26quot; or the word %26quot;return%26quot; instead of %26quot;come back.%26quot; %26lt;---My mother tells me I do this all the time.

Avoid eye contact or stare at others. %26lt;--I can%26#039;t look a person in the eyes and I do find myself staring at other.

Have unusual facial expressions or postures. %26lt;----I have horrid posture.

Be preoccupied with only one or few interests, which he or she may be very knowledgeable about. Many children with Asperger%26#039;s syndrome are overly interested in parts of a whole or in unusual activities, such as designing houses, drawing highly detailed scenes, or studying astronomy. They may show an unusual interest in certain topics such as snakes, names of stars, or dinosaurs.%26lt;----Me all the way. Mines acting and stars.

Talk a lot, usually about a favorite subject. One-sided conversations are common. Internal thoughts are often verbalized. %26lt;---I go on and on about my favorite things.

Have delayed motor development. Your child may be late in learning to use a fork or spoon, ride a bike, or catch a ball. He or she may have an awkward walk. Handwriting is often poor. %26lt;---I could%26#039;ent ride a bike till I was like 9.

Have heightened sensitivity and become overstimulated by loud noises, lights, or strong tastes or textures.%26lt;---My mom also told me I hated the feeling of water and sand when I was little. I also was scared of loud music up till the time I was 10.

Is it possible I have it? sould I see a docter?|||it%26#039;s sounds very much like AS, do you feel awkward in social situations and do you prefer to be alone? i think you have some of the symptoms of it unless you are just hoping so bad that you have it that you are imagining these symptoms and maybe you just have interns syndrome. but i am going to go with what you%26#039;re saying is genuine and i think that maybe you should go get it checked out or something.|||No...I don%26#039;t think so. I just think your are socially awkward.|||I%26#039;m not a doctor, I say go to a doctor and they can refer you to a specialist.|||Those web tests are unreliable. The symptoms are supposed to be interpreted by a qualified professional. Other people might misunderstand what the symptoms really are.

%26quot;Having horrible posture%26quot; not what they mean. They are talking about weird body movements like walking around flapping your hands or with your arms wrapped around your head.

Everybody can go on an on about their favorite topics.

Most kids hate bedtime or moving. By %26quot;change in routine%26quot; they mean something like having to eat a half hour later and it makes you so upset you have a panic attack.

Did you ever see the movie %26quot;Rain Man?%26quot; That%26#039;s pretty much how people with the disorder usually behave.

For some reason, a lot of people %26quot;want to have%26quot; Asperger%26#039;s Disorder. Apparently, because they think it means they are geniuses. I have seen where a lot of people on the web write things like %26quot;Bill Gates has Asperger%26#039;s.%26quot; I have seen Mr. Gates on TV and he doesn%26#039;t act a person with Asperger%26#039;s in the least.

Go see a doctor if you really want to. I doubt if you have Asperger%26#039;s, though.|||You could have it, but maybe you are over representing your symptoms because you are paranoid, but it is a possibility.

Many of your %26quot;symptoms%26quot; are not that abnormal.

Your teachers would have noticed. I volunteer in a school and there are a couple children in the classes with this, and they are 8, so I think from all your visits with doctors over time, they would have noticed.

And yes you like acting and stars, but is it obsessive and compulsive to the point where thats all you talk about, and you know everything about everything there is to know about stars and acting?

Lots of people have bad posture, and use different words when they speak.

And because you do not know how to handle when someone cries does not mean you lack empathy. It just means you are unfamiliar with that.

You may or may not have it, you may have asperger like qualities...

if it is bothering you a lot, get tested.

but do they even do anything for aspergers?

meds or anything?

so how would knowing you have it change you?|||If you have it then so do I, lol. I have basicaly the same stuff but I don%26#039;t have it, my older brother does though so I might have picked some of the quirks up from him.

1. I had to be taught by my mother what all the basic stuff was (i.e. arms crossed= back off)

2. I hate it when we move, I cry and get really emotional but when I%26#039;m here I hate to leave.

3. %26amp; 4 I don%26#039;t have! In fact the opposite!

5. I%26#039;ve got a very formal way of talking around my parents and new people but not friends. Once I accidently said a weird word and my friends were like %26quot;Do people still use that word?%26quot; I can also pass my vocab tests without studying at ALL!

6.- Don%26#039;t have

7. Yes!! Totally!

8. Completely, mines reading and t.v shows/ manga

9. Yes! talking about Manga/ Books/ tv shows; lol

10. I learnt to ride a bike at 7 then forgot and had to be retaught (rofl)

11. Nope

Feel comforted now? You probably don%26#039;t have it.

So maybe you%26#039;re just normal. Does anyone notice the way you act, do you have friends? Or do you REALLY! want friends but seam to never have them? When people talk to you do you stare off and accidentally ignore them, or just don%26#039;t %26#039;compute%26#039; when people talk to you. Have any of your teachers noticed?

My brother was at his new school for three months and his teachers instantly knew there was something different about him. After they tested him it turns out his IQ is WAY above average and he has Asperger syndrome.

You should defiantly ask someone, if you still go to school they can provide you with tests (you don%26#039;t take them your parents do) to see if you have it.
